House hearing set to discuss flood relief for Northwest Missouri
JEFFERSON CITY - A Missouri House committee will have a public meeting Thursday with public safety departments and agencies about flood relief for Northwest Missouri.
The Missouri Department of Public Safety and State Emergency Management Agency will inform the Joint Committee on Disaster Preparedness and Awareness on recovery efforts and federal disaster relief assistance.
Historic flooding in March destroyed farms, homes and major roads.
After damage from previous floods, the committee searches for ways to assist areas impacted by current flooding.
Flooding in Northwest Missouri Tuesday night closed Interstate 29 at the Missouri and Iowa border to U.S. Route 71 intersection north of St. Joseph, according to MoDOT.
The public can give input during the hearing.
The hearing will be at 8:30 A.M. in the Capitol's House Hearing Room 4.
