Investigators Uncover Meth Evidence at Fire
COLUMBIA - Columbia Fire Department officials said Tuesday a fire January 9 at 2212 Chapel Hill Road shows a possible connection to methamphetamine. Fire officials said they have been investigating the cause of the fire since crews first arrived and found the residents living in the house were already gone.
Fire investigators and Columbia Police detectives have interviewed some of the residents, but have yet to talk to at least one other.
Investigators said they found items consistent with a methamphetamine lab after searching in and around the house.
Investigators said the fire probably started in the garage where the items were found.
The investigation is still open and both the Columbia Fire Department and Columbia Police said anyone with additional information pertaining to the fire should contact investigators at 573-874-7557.
