Jefferson City Police Make Key Drug Related Arrests

JEFFERSON CITY - Jefferson City Police Department announced Friday it made 17 arrests related to heroin distribution within the past three weeks.  The JCPD Community Action Team has been conducting a joint operation with the MUSTANG Drug Task Force as part of an ongoing law enforcement effort against heroin distribution. The operation marked the third "Drug Sweep" with an emphasis on heroin distribution in Jefferson City.

The JCPD and Cole County Sheriff's Department's SWAT Team searched eight residences, which resulted in the seizure of heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana, a handgun, items associated with the packaging and distribution of controlled substances and drug money. The residences searched were located in the following areas:

1. 10 Jackson Street

2. 1600 block of Paddlewheel Circle

3. 3700 block of Randall Drive

4. 300 block of West Ashley Street

5. 300 block of Washington Street

6. 1400 block of Elizabeth Street

7. 1600 block of Jefferson Street

8. 400 block of Hutton Lane 

Among the 17 arrests, police identified five suspects as relatively high level heroin dealers. Suspects include Lamar Johnson, Chad White, Mark Parker, Elonzo Johnson and Augustus Armstead. The Cole County Prosecutors Office formally charged the five suspects with Distribution of Controlled Substances. 

JCPD Captain Doug Shoemaker said heroin continues to be the primary focus of Community Action Team Narcotics Investigations. Thus far, the drug sweeps have resulted in more than eighty arrests primarily involving heroin distribution.
