LOCAL LOOKOUT: Family hosts special serenade on Mother's Day
COLUMBIA - It was not the Mother's Day the Keithahn family was expecting, but they still made the most of it.
The Keithahn's planned on spending their morning at The Neighborhood's By TigerPlace for a parade with Juanita Zeiler, their grandmother.
The parade was canceled after a housekeeper at the nursing home tested positive for COVID-19.
But, that did not stop the family from bringing their own party right outside of their grandmother's window.
The family spent Sunday singing and playing songs with their violins and ukulele.
Mari Ann Keithahn had not seen her mother in over a month.
"We've been in this situation for several weeks we've been doing this (playing music) over Skype, but today was a great day to do it live," Keithahn said.
Music is something the mother daughter duo grew up doing together.
"My mother and I used to play music when I was five," Keithahn said.
The family wanted to make the best of the difficult situation.
"I wish we could be in person but...this is better than nothing," Keithahn said.
