COLUMBIA -- Since 1909, Brookfield and Marceline have been rivals on the football field. Since 1937, the Bulldogs and the Tigers have battled for a bell which lead to the rivalry game becoming known as "The Bell Game."

Now the annual game is getting national recognition after being voted the number one high school football rivalry in the country by USAToday. The game received more than 1.7 million votes in the contest, helped in large part by a lock-in marathon voting session at Brookfield High School on Saturday night.

For the winning the contest, the two schools will split $10,000. Brookfield principal Vicki Enyart says the Bulldogs will give their $5,000 to Newtown, Connecticut in the aftermath of Friday's tragedy.
