JEFFERSON CITY - Tours resumed at the Missouri State Penitentiary Monday morning in Jefferson City.

About 30 people attended the two-hour history tour Monday. The tours stopped running last September in order for repairs to be done to the nearly 200 year old facility.

Ryan Burns with the Missouri Office of Administration said the repairs are on schedule and within budget so far. Burns said she expected all the repairs to be done by June 2014.

Monday's tour, led by the prison's last serving deputy warden, takes visitors through the housing units and gas chamber at the penitentiary. It costs $12.
