Mizzou Defeats DePaul, Wins Regional
COLUMBIA - The Missouri softball team is headed to the NCAA Super Regionals after beating DePaul twice on Sunday afternoon. Chelsea Thomas pitched a six inning no-hitter in the clinching game to seal Mizzou's trip to the Super Regionals. The Tigers will host Washington next weekend with a chance to advance to their third consecutive Women's College World Series. Mizzou senior Rhea Taylor led the Tigers offensively with two home runs and seven runs batted in on the day.
In game one DePaul got on the board early, leading 1-0 after the first. Then Taylor hit a three-run homer in the second inning to go up 4-1. The Tigers would hold on and win game one 7-3.
The Tigers turned to Thomas for game two. Thomas yielded one walk, shutting out the Blue Demons in the deciding game. The Super Regionals will be next weekend, game one is on Saturday night at 8 PM CT and televised on ESPN2. Game two will be on Sunday, the time has not been decided. Game three will also be played on Sunday if it is needed.
