Moberly facility lays off 45 percent of workforce
MOBERLY - Wilson's Trailer facility in Moberly announced Monday it will be laying off 45 percent of its workforce.
The layoffs will become effective on October 26.
Wilson's said "It was our hope that reductions in personnel could be avoided, but due to a decrease in flatbed trailer sales, and the general economy’s continued sluggishness it has become necessary to reduce our workforce by approximately 42 personnel effective October 26, 2015.”
David Gaines of the Economic Development organization in Moberly said the business cycle is to blame.
"Anytime there's a layoff like this it's devastating to the employee and their family, however we've got some resources for them to bounce back," he said.
On October 14, the City of Moberly will be hosting a job fair with 25 perspective employers. Many of these employers are looking for employees with the same skill set required at Wilson's.
