ASHLAND - Drivers can expect to see some lanes closed as construction projects on Highway 63 move forward Monday.

Peterson Lane, just south of the Route M and Y overpass in Ashland, will be closed so crews can repave the road. It is all a part of a larger project to increase the safety and traffic flow in the area. MoDOT is removing the medians at both Peterson and Liberty lanes. These will be replaced with a J-Turn, south of Peterson Lane.

According to MoDOT, there has been a total of 11 accidents in the median at Liberty Lane, including one that caused a disabling injury. Last Thursday, Peterson Lane was the site of a fatal car wreck. An Ashland woman died after she crossed the highway from Peterson Lane into the median. She failed to yield to an oncoming vehicle.

Peterson Lane will be closed through Wednesday. It is scheduled to reopen at 6 a.m. on Thursday.
