Neighbors speak up about Rangeline Street shooting
COLUMBIA - After a shooting Monday night left one person shot in the stomach, neighbors at the Colonial Village Trailer Court discussed what happened.
Each of the six neighbors KOMU spoke with said the exchange between the 31-year old victim and two other men involved drugs.
Two neighbors said after the victim was shot in the stomach he ran about a quarter mile south to Casey's convenience store, where he called emergency services.
Investigators said the victim was visiting a family member at the trailer court, and one neighbor specified that his father lives there.
Neighbors said they heard between four and five gunshots during the altercation.
One neighbor who has lived at the trailer court for 10 years and now has an eight-year-old daughter and three-year-old son said she plans on leaving soon.
"I want out of here," Mary Hornbeck said. "I've lived here for a long time. I'm tired of this place."
The Columbia Police Department said the investigation is ongoing and it has no updates since its press release Monday night.
