No topic off limits at senior town hall meeting
COLUMBIA - A senior listening session, put on by Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Missouri), gave an open forum for seniors to discuss issues in their lives, and no topic was off limits.
Attendees wrote out their questions beforehand and McCaskill answered those she pulled from a basket. Discussion included Medicaid troubles, President Obama's health care reform law and senior transportation.
The session, which took place at Lenior Woods Senior Center in Columbia, is just one of many town halls for seniors across the state.
Multiple attendees said they had heard McCaskill speak, but never in person. Some said they appreciated her concern with senior issues.
"Well, I liked her assurance about social security remaining and about Medicare remaining, and her support for that," Lenior Woods resident Jim Rhodes said.
