COLUMBIA - The Missouri men's basketball program is interested  in Purdue's head coach Matt Painter as a candidate for the Tigers vacancy.  Painter has been a head coach at Purdue the last six seasons.  He has led the Boilermakers to five NCAA Tournaments and has won the Big Ten Coach of the Year honor three times.

Painter also  spent one season as head coach at Southern Illinois, where he led the Salukis to the NCAA Tournament and won Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year recognition.   

Missouri is searching for a new basketball coach after Mike Anderson left for the Arkansas Razorbacks.
