Painter Stays at Purdue
COLUMBIA - Matt Painter remains the head coach of Purdue Boilermakers, and will remain the head coach of the Purdue Boilermakers. Painter signed a new eight year contract with Purdue through 2018-2019 season.
It was just a week ago that Mike Anderson left Missouri for Arkansas dissapointing thousands of fans and sending the Missouri athletic department into a nationwide search for a new head coach. Now Missouri is dealing with another dissapointment.
From the start of its search, the athletic department targeted Purdue head coach Matt Painter. They visited him on Tuesday while he vacationed with his family in Florida. The Tiger search committee returned yesterday, without Painter.
Today, they waited for his answer and it came in the form of a release on the Purdue website. Painter signed an 8-year deal with Purdue to lead the Boilermakers. In the article he said "At the end of the day, my heart is at Purdue, and this is a place where I want to win a national championship."
So, Missouri continues its search for a new head coach, back to square one.
