Partnership Against Hunger Gathers Food to Feed Mid-Missouri
COLUMBIA - The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri and Cumulus radio group is gathering grub for the 11th annual Partnership Against Hunger food drive Tuesday.
The crews are working twelve hours, from six in the morning to six in the evening, to collect donations to feed Mid-Missourians. The Food Bank's executive director, Peggie Kirkpatrick said, "last year the Partnership Against Hunger drive raised more than $50,000 and ten pounds of food."
Kirkpatrick also said there is a really large need in donations this year. She said the Food Bank fed 12,000 people in October alone.
Although there is no real goal for the day, the Food Bank's regional coordinator, Mike DeSantis said, "The Food Bank is working to gather enough food and donations to provide 15,000,000 meals this holiday season and until the end of the year." He did say many food drives and collections would play into this goal.
Within the first hour of the food drive at Schnucks on Forum Boulevard in Columbia, the group collected more than $1,400 and 200 pounds of food.
Food drive Locations include:
- Schnucks on Forum Boulevard
- Walmart on Grindstone Parkway
- Walmart on Conley Road
- Walmart on West Broadway
- Schnucks on Missouri Boulevard
- Walmart on West Stadium Boulevard
- Walmart on North Bluff Street
The food drives end at six.
