Police investigate Columbia bank robbery
COLUMBIA - Police were investigating an unarmed bank robbery Monday afternoon. Police said it happened at the Regions Bank at 2114 Paris Road. Officers were dispatched to the robbery at 12:11 p.m.
Police said the suspect entered the bank and demanded money from the teller.
The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene on foot and exited the bank southbound.
There were no customers inside the bank at the time of the robbery and there were no employees injured.
Police have a vague description of the suspect.
The bank robbery was the second robbery in the city Monday. Police responded to an armed robbery at the Break Time on Nifong Boulevard early Monday morning.
"We see an increase in robbery during the holiday season," said Columbia Police Information Officer Latisha Stroer.
