Preliminary Hearing Postponed for Columbia Murder Suspect
COLUMBIA - The preliminary hearing for James Thompson was scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Boone County Circuit Court. The hearing was once again rescheduled.
Thompson is the suspect in the April 10 murder of Brian Daniels. Columbia Police responded to a call at 2416 Cimarron Drive. Police found Daniels dead when they arrived. On April 11, KOMU 8 News reported that Thompson and his mother, Jacqueline Miller, found Daniels dead after returning to the house for the first time in 24 hours.
David Wallis, the defense attorney for Thompson, said Wednesday, "I talked with the state earlier today and we agreed that I would request a continuance of this matter."
Wallis is waiting on the prosecution to present more evidence before the judicial process can move forward.
"Right now we're just waiting on more discovery," Wallis said.
There's no word yet as to when the preliminary hearing will be rescheduled.
