Railroad Construction May Slow Down Drivers
COLUMBIA - Drivers on Business Loop 70 East may run into stalled traffic beginning Monday.
The Columbia Terminal Railroad (COLT) will replace the railroad crossing on the busy road near the Municipal Power Plant. Drivers will only have access to one lane while COLT replaces the track and crossing surface. Columbia Water & Light officials said drivers should be cautious near the construction zone and be mindful of speed as traffic may slow down. The work is expected to take about one week, depending on the weather.
COLT is a short line railroad owned by the City of Columbia and operated by Columbia Water & Light. It provides railroad freight service to Columbia and mid-Missouri.
