Relay For Life Walks Through The Night Friday
COLUMBIA - Rock Bridge High School's track was lit late into the night Friday as Relay For Life walkers raised cancer awareness, despite the weather. Boone County's fundraisers and cancer survivors came out for the event.
Walkers wore shirts reading, "We are creating a world with more birthdays, a world where cancer can't claim another year of anyone's life." White bags with candles lined the track to be lit at 9 p.m. Each candle was lit in honor of a survivor at the walk.
The relay is put on by the American Cancer Society. The organization says the relay is a way for communities across the globe to celebrate the lives of people who battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and fight back against the disease."
If you would like to join in, the race ends Saturday at 6 a.m. The walkers urge you to come out to this public event and join in the fun.
