Rusk Rehab Center
COLUMBIA - An employee from Rusk Rehabilitation Center told KOMU 8 News Wednesday that he and a large number of employees are considering striking because of working conditions. The main complaint is about the lack of hours the employees are receiving. Instead of getting a full 40 hours a week, the employee said, for the past two years, they have been receiving 20 or 30 hours a week.
KOMU 8 News spoke with Rusk management about the issue and the C.E.O. issued this statement:
"As with any hospital, Rusk Rehabilitation Center staff meets the needs of the patients. This is based on not only the number of patients, but also the intensity of their care needs....Rusk adjusts staffing to meet the needs of our patients, while ensuring the highest quality of patient care. This is a long-standing policy and patient care has not been negatively affected. Our most recent results show that in the 2nd quarter of 2012, Rusk's patient satisfaction as measured by Press Ganey was the 2nd highest scoring hospital out of 99 HealthSouth hospitals in overall patient satisfaction."
