COLUMBIA - The University of Missouri Gymnastics program and head coach Rob Drass are pleased to announce the return of Sarah Shire to the gymnastics program. A three year member of the gymnastics team, Shire will take on a new role as the Director of Gymnastics Operations.

"We are excited to have Sarah Shire back here as the Director of Operations," head coach Rob Drass said. "We haven't had anyone in that position so we are excited to have that help, and who better than a former Mizzou-great. It is a win-win for all of us. We are gaining her office expertise and allowing her to earn a degree in Sports Psychology. We are looking forward to a bright future from Sarah."

Shire was a part of one of Missouri's most successful gymnastics teams to date. She transferred to Mizzou from Utah before her sophomore season, and earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Year honors right off the bat. Throughout her career she continued to set new records.

Shire is the program's only four-time All-American athlete, and she is a two-time Big 12 Gymnast of the Year award winner. Throughout her career she was named Big 12 Gymnast of the week 12 times, and earned five Big 12 Championship event and all-around titles. In her senior season, Shire was named Columbia Regional All-Around and Vault champion as well as Co-Champion on bars and floor.

Shire earned a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis in communication and business from Mizzou, and she is currently pursuing her master's degree in sports psychology.
