SEMA Participates in National Exercise
JEFFERSON CITY- The State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, prepared for a large magnitude earthquake during a drill Monday morning. This exercise began with an earthquake scenario in the New Madrid Fault Zone area, which is located in the bootheel of Missouri. Federal, local and state governmental agencies are working together to prepare for the next emergency that comes their way.
"The idea of this drill is how does the state, the federal government and local governments respond. How will they react, how would we communicate. How we would get the resources to the people that need them," said Communications Director of Public Safety, Mike O'Connell.
The exercises go through Thursday. On Friday, the agencies will review the week's actions.
