Two Columbia Cousins Murdered Less Than Three Months Apart
COLUMBIA - Two murder victims from the same family were killed less than three months apart. Cooper County deputies found the body of 32-year-old Satina Beckner Wednesday on Highway S, South of I-70 and Boonville. KOMU 8 News learned Friday that Beckner was the cousin of 17-year-old Treveon Marshall, a Hickman high school student murdered in McKee Park over the summer.
Treveon's aunt, Yolanda Marshall, said she didn't understand why her family continues to be victims of brutal murders.
"I don't know if there's a target on my family or what," Marshall said.
Marshall said both Beckner and Treveon Marshall were good people who loved their families.
"Treveon was so smart," Yolanda Marshall said. "He was on the honor roll. He had such a good future ahead of him."
Yolanda Marshall also said Beckner was a devoted mom to her four kids.
"Her kids were her first priority," Yolanda Marshall said. "Her dad had just passed. And it was her dad and her kids. That was the most important things in her life."
Authorities arrested 23-year-old Bryant Holmes Jr. of Columbia early Friday in connection to Beckner's death. They say they had an on again, off again relationship.
