UM Curators Continue Discussing Tuition Increase
KANSAS CITY - Discussion of proposed tuition increases for all four UM System schools continued Friday.
Curators did not vote on a possible tuition increase, but according to sources in the MU News Bureau, there could potentially be another meeting this month.
UM System Interim President Steve Owen opened the meeting with a State of the University address.
In his speech, Owen said "the state of the university is remarkably good." He discussed the effectiveness and efficiency of the UM system, including cost cuts of $75.2 million last year and savings of more than $222 million over 3 years.
Nevertheless, a tuition increase remained on the table.
Students on the Columbia campus could potentially see a 7.5 percent increase in tuition.
