UPDATE: Mexico shooting victim identified, three suspects taken into custody
MEXICO - The Mexico Public Safety Department has taken three suspects into custody after a shooting that left one man dead Friday evening.
The department said 17-year-old Dekhise E Dorsey, of Mexico, was taken to the Audrain County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder, first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.
The department said the two 15-year-olds were taken to detention centers "for similar charges."
The department said the suspects were taken into custody around 1:40 p.m. Saturday.
Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 500 block of Muldrow around 5:30 p.m. Friday. They said 27-year-old Tajuan Williams, of Mexico, was shot once. Williams was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital where he later died.
Mexico resident Gina Crump said she was shocked to hear news of the shooting.
"Prayers to his family. I feel very bad for his family," she said.
UPDATE: Dorsey has been charged with armed criminal assault, first degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and second degree murder according to Audrain County Jail.
