UPDATE: Thousands of Fish Die at Corportate Lake
Thousands of fish died in Corporate Lake in Columbia Monday. By Tuesday morning, there was not much of a smell. Missouri's Department of Conservation called it a "low oxygen fish kill". This happens in smaller lakes. Phillip Pitts with the Department of Conservation said the lake is about 85 degrees. He also said that most of the fish that died were blue gills and were 4-8 inches. Larger fish normally die first. Pitts said there is not much the department can do besides wait it out and monitor the situation.
