COLUMBIA - Although it was a dingy Saturday morning, runners in the Water Gun Run 5K suited up and got soaked.

The Focus on Health Chiropractic Center held the run to benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital.  They raised $2,000 from entries and donations.

Leslie Earls is an avid runner and used the run as preparation for a bigger race ahead.

KOMU 8 News asked Earls why she participated in the run and she said, "I'm actually training for a half-marathon in San Juan, Puerto Rico come this November so just trying to test my speed and just keep up wellness."

Runners began the race next to the chiropractic center and finished it off with onlookers squirting them with water guns, running through a water arch, and sliding down a big blow-up slide.

At the end of the event, coordinators from the chiropractic center held a raffle to give out wellness prizes.
