First Alert Forecast
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY UNTIL 6 AM
Temps in those counties are expected to fall below 32 degrees between 10-1am, leading to a 'flash-freeze' of rainfall on roadways and a changeover of rain to freezing rain, then light snow showers. A glazing of ice is likely on untreated roadways with a dusting to 2" snowfall possible overnight.
Areas west of HWY 63 will experience some patchy ice potential tonight, but is not expected to become wide-spread as cold, dry air should move in quickly enough to clear out most freezing rain/snow chances for Columbia, Jefferson City and areas to the south and east. However, flash-freezing of evening rainfall is expected on roads tonight.
Watch for black ice on roads Wednesday morning. Eventually, skies will become mostly sunny with temps in the upper 20s.
More 'clipper-like' systems will pass through Missouri Thursday through the weekend, leading to very cold temperatures and chances for light snow Friday afternoon and Saturday night.
Temperatures will be below average for the rest of the week and weekend.
