We have an active weather pattern this week with warm, possibly record warm, temperatures before a strong cold front brings a big push of cooler air for Halloween.
MONDAY’S FORECAST
A warm front is expected to move through the region and help temperatures soar to the lower 80s. We’ll start the day in the lower 50s and warm to the lower 80s in the afternoon. High clouds are expected to be fairly abundant, resulting in a mostly cloudy sky.
In addition to the warm air and cloud cover we can expect it to become quite breezy through the day with wind gusts up to 30-35 mph possible by the late afternoon and evening.
WINDY & WARM
Tuesday will feature the potential for record temperatures with a low in the middle to upper 60s and a high in the middle 80s.
Tuesday will also bring windy conditions with wind gusts up to 45 mph possible. The combination of dry conditions, well above average temperatures, and strong winds will result in a risk for fire weather. Avoid outdoor burning and watch anything that could spark a fire.
COLD FRONT ARRIVES
A strong cold front will arrive on Wednesday late in the day. This will bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening and overnight hours. Some of these storms could even be on the strong to severe side, but should be weakening as they move east into mid-Missouri.
LOOKING AHEAD
Showers and thunderstorms will exit for Halloween, meaning we are expecting dry and much cooler conditions for Halloween festivities. Temperatures will only reach the upper 50s and then fall into the upper 40s to lower 50s for the evening. Forecast confidence is on the high side for this outlook.
An active weather pattern looks to continue into the weekend with above average rain chances into the weekend.
