Good morning and happy Sunday! Temperatures as you head out the door are in the low 40s this morning. Jackets and maybe even an extra layer will be needed for the first half of the day and don't forget the sunglasses!
Today will mark the beginning of our warming trend. Temperatures will reach near 70 degrees by this afternoon, and will make for a pleasant and sunny Sunday. If you have been slacking on spooky season, you only have 4 more days to hit the pumpkin patch until Halloween. Today will be a great opportunity to finish any decorating, pumpkin carving, and costume creating.
Clouds will begin to increase this evening and into the overnight hours leading to partly cloudy conditions overnight. Temperatures overnight will stay cool, but warmer than this morning, near 50 degrees.
Partly cloudy skies will stick around through the start of the work week as temperatures continue to warm due to strong southerly winds. Highs near 80 are expected for Monday with wind gusts up to 30 mph at times. Trash cans and decorations will need to be tied down and secured as windy conditions will continue through Tuesday night. Peak gusts could reach as high as 35-40 mph which is strong enough to take your trash cans to visit your neighbors.Â
Morning lows for Tuesday and wednesday will have the potential to break our current records. The record low for Tuesday morning is currently 67 degrees set in 2004, and the record low for Wednesday morning is 65 degrees set back in 1950. The current forecast shows a good likelihood of breaking those record lows for both mornings.
Chances of rain return Wednesday evening as a cold front enters the region. Showers and thunderstorms look likely with rain amounts holding steady between 1" and 1.5" total. Rain should come to an end by Thursday morning to leave trick or treaters mainly dry.
An active weather pattern takes over by the end of the week into next weekend. Multiple chances for rain look to be in the cards for Mid-Missouri. We will be keeping an eye on these rain chances and how they could improve drought conditions throughout the course of the week right here at KOMU 8.
